Nothing like RVing in extreme weather. I was there with you in that chunk of the story!

I was in a campground once where a tornado passed 200 yards away from us in the bush. It came up suddenly and we had not much warning so all the slides and awnings were out. Everyone there lost their awning. I was trying to put mine in when it ripped right out of my hands and folded over top. Gave up and I went inside. Went back out after and saw all of the trees ripped right out of the ground.

Oh my goodness TIM! I am so glad you were all OK and survived! Actually coming up in this series, I will share my close call in Bowling Green Florida. But I couldn’t drive away because my husband was in a different state and I had not learned to drive yet. But ended up not hitting our campground. The second time was in Altoona GA, again hubby in another state and I count’t drive. The weather announcer on the news was actually telling us to get out. At the very last second the hurricane did a 90 degree turn and missed us we just got the rain and wind — but I had the slides in! It is incredibly scary! Now if the wind picks up past 15 mph I bring all the slides in—and I can drive so there is no flack from my hubby! hehehehhe

I'm a lot more reactive since our close call. Paying for the awning repair was no good either

Oh me too! I would go for hikes or walkabouts in Arizona and there are rocks covered in sketches unprotected.. just sitting there and I am just amazed.

What an adventure Karen! The way you describe the Pyramid and all the unique things it has to offer, from the elevator ride to the fish tanks and even the archery range, makes it sound like a place worth checking out. The storm part sounds intense but also kind of epic, braving it all under the overpass with the wind howling and rain pouring down. Glad you made it through that crazy weather! And I love the way you captured that feeling of waking up to the hum of the city after a wild night. Definitely an unforgettable stop on your journey. Safe travels as you head to Ocala! 🌟
